The dairy farm was started around 1963 in collaboration with the Swiss government. It is run by the Indo-Swiss livestock project.

The climate of this hill station is tropical throughout the year which means the minimum temperature is 16 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is 31 degrees Celsius. The hill station is rich flora and fauna. 

The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is home to elephants, tigers, and many other animals, it is the most famous tourist attraction in Thekkady hill station. In Periyar sanctuary, one can do bamboo rafting and can take a walk through nature.

The mystical hill of Vagamon is located between the border of Meenachil taluk and Kanjirappally taluk of Kottayam district and also Peerumedu taluk of Idukki district. The city has a cool climate and is situated 1200 meters above sea level. 

It is a perfect tourist place which is surrounded by fresh cool air, small waterfalls, greenery of tea gardens, and pine forests. The 3 beautiful hills in Vagamon hill station known as Thangal hill, Murugan hill, and Kurismala gives an enchanting feel to the hill station. 

Thangal Hill or as it is said Thangalpara is a unique place where a giant rock rests at the edge of the hill, it is an important pilgrimage spot for the Muslims.

Murugan Hill is on the eastern side of Kurisumala Hill. The hill has the temple of Lord Murugan, made using a single rock. The God of the temple, Lord Murugan, is known to be the son of Lord Shiva.

Kurisumala Hill is a famous Christian pilgrim center. It was established back in the days by Christian missionaries. The place also has a dairy farm which is run by the monks.
